Almost two exact year after the “Closer” exploded into summer playlists across the country, electronic dance music duo the Chainsmokers have once again produced a ridiculously catchy summer tune in the form of “side Effects.” The new song will be debuted at the band’s show in Atlantic City on July 28. Also present for the performance will be frequent partner-in-crime to the duo, Emily Warren, whose vocals make a presence in the dance tune.

The Chainsmokers are an american dj duo, formed by the partnership of Alex Pall, and Andrew Taggart. The duo first broke into the limelight with their hit #Selfie in 2014, with their mos well-known tune being the smash summer hit “Closer” featuring the voice of female artist, Halsey. Pall and Taggart have drawn from numerous musical sources, with taggart being quoted as describing their music as “blurring the lines between indie, pop music, dance music, and hip-hop.”The group have since gone on to win numerous awards, including 2 American Music Awards, 7 Billboard Music Awards, and 8 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

The duo’s newest song, “Side Effects” has taken a much different approach from many of there other releases this year, which Taggart amounts to both the season that the song was written in, as well as the personal lives of the duo. The example given is “Sick Boy,” the duo’s very successful song released this past winter. The much darker sound and message that the song has, compared to the disco-funk fusion that is “Side Effects” is a reflection of a darker season in the winter and the personal issues that the two men were struggling with at the time.Taggart states,’ “as soon as the weather got better, and everything warmed up — we started making music that reflected that.”

Looking to the future for the duo, it looks bright. Taggart describes “Closer” as an almost coming-of0age for the duo. Not only did it put the group into the limelight of pop-culture, but it is also the first song that Taggart sang on, leading him to sing in a fair few more of the group’s biggest hits.
